Alp And beyongs to the group of HgMn stars (narrow spectral type range B7 to B9 and luminosity class from V to III), first identified by Morgan (1933), althought at that time, Hg II 3984 was unidentified. Enhanced Mn II appears at 4136, 4206 and 4252. Hg II 3984 could be variable.
